LATEST EVENT: Royalty & Revolution, Tuesday 11th April

2023 will see the first Coronation in 70 years ... so the night of Tuesday 11th April (also our 150th show by the way, which makes us at least 70 in literary event years) was themed on Royalty & Revolution - political, sexual, scientific & more. Our fantastic actors read brand new stories of murder PR, royal/rustic romance, grieving Queens, how to poison a tyrant & the political protest to end them all ... or will it? All stories are now online as a YouTube playlist - watch them here. 

Those who wanted to hear tales fit for a Tsar on a beggar's budget booked £5 tickets for the best value Coronation knees-up in the West End! Our majestic venue, the Phoenix, Cavendish Square, W1 also does two-for-one burgers on Tuesday nights, which is nice - PLUS there was our usual fiendish book quiz with books to win, and free mini chocolate eggs for all!

General info for our events

Tickets cost £5 each and are limited to 50. To book, please click the orangey-yellow DONATE button (top right, above) and donate £5 for 1, £10 for 2 tickets etc.

Doors will open at 6.30 for a 7.30pm start, we'll have an interval at around 8.30, and the show usually finishes up around 9.30pm after which the bar will be open until (at least) 11pm. 

The venue is the basement bar, downstairs at:
The Phoenix pub
37 Cavendish Square,
London W1G 0PP (tube: Oxford Circus).
Access info: stairs down to the basement, no lift unfortunately.

BOOKING & TICKET FAQs

I'm coming with friends, can we sit together?
Yes - if you're coming with a group please book a table for 2, 3, 4 or however many in the party. Single bookers don't need to reserve a table. 

How many tickets are available?
Tickets are limited to 50 (assuming all tables are full) and tend to sell quite quickly, so if in doubt - book!

 

How much are tickets?

£5 each. No concessions because they're already dirt cheap. 

 

Can I get food and drink at the event?
Yes, both - please order at the bar or from your table.

 

Should I wear a mask?
Venue says: "Mask wearing is no longer mandatory but we do encourage it."

 

STEP BY STEP BOOKING INSTRUCTIONS

Please use the Donate button on the top right of this website page (look up, look right, it's small and orangey-yellow ...) to donate the price of however many tickets you want. So a table for 6 would be £30, but a ticket for 1 is £5. Here's how you do it.

 

- Click the Donate button

- Enter the amount: £5 for 1 ticket, £10 for 2 etc. (you have to type in 5 - 0 - 0 for £5, it's slightly non-intuitive)

- Click Donate. This will take you to your Paypal login (if you don't have Paypal get someone else on your table to pay for tickets. Some tickets are usually available on the door but we can't guarantee how many). 

- Your booking will be made using your Paypal display name, for 1 person if you pay £5, 2 if you pay £10, 3 if you pay £15, etc. If you need to add any special notes regarding your booking, email [email protected]

- Ideally, tick the Share your email address button so we can contact you if there's any problem

- Click Donate Now

- And you're done!
