Happy 2014, readers! We hope you're settling in to the new year now, and have stopped accidentally dating everything 2013. We're just about getting over that January issue here, and have decided to celebrate by telling you all about the events we have coming up in February and beyond ...
First of all our lovely actresses Beverley Longhurst (welcome to the company Beverley), Becky Hands-Wicks and Jo Entwisle will be reading extracts from four of the best stories in the new issue (#126) of Granta Magazine, on the theme of "do you remember?" And when we say "best", we mean they're by Lorrie Moore, Lydia Davis, Joy Williams and Ann Beattie. Astonishingly, this event is FREE to attend, so you'd better form an orderly queue outside the Society Club, 12 Ingestre Place, Soho W1F 0JF at 7pm on Thursday 6 Feb. No punching, kicking or biting please. Want to reserve a ticket? More details here.
Secondly - but by no means least - at 7.30pm on Tuesday February 11th, we're hosting our very first proper LL of the year - it's on the theme of You & Me and will feature stories for two voices, because it's Valentine's week and we loooove to set up actors together. We also love to set up our single audience members, so we're planning to reserve a couple of special singles tables for the romantically-inclined to mingle at. Don't know who to sit next to? Pull the name of one half of a famous literary couple out of the hat at the door, find your other half, and voila! (Failing that, just sit next to the hottest person on the table and lie). Venue details here.
Not enough for you? Well, if you want a list of every regular Liars' League night we're doing in 2014 (and the themes and the submission deadlines for all of them) head on over to our Forthcoming ... page. We can also exclusively reveal that you can catch us again at Wilderness Festival, where we had such fun in 2012, this August - we'll be reading stories at the Secret Forum literary tent on a galaxy of subjects including Golden Ages and Altered States. See you there!
